New Gadget: Post Lap Band Fun

One of the things I love is sharing my favorite finds with folks who have had weight loss surgery like me, because lets face it. Some products just work better than others. This week I am preparing to go back to school and have a week long residency to attend. I’ll be staying in a dorm room and have no idea what the campus even looks like, let alone how this is going to impact my diet and exercise routine for the week. But I am determined to stay on track. I bought a mini blender, kind of like the magic bullet only a lot cheaper. I have a ninja pro and love love love it to death, so I just needed something small, portable and cheap that would blend my protein drinks.  So I made my favorite strawberry shake after my workout to test it out!  It didn’t get the strawberries as finely blended as the Ninja, but it did pretty well. Will work for traveling purposes. See the pics below.

Reblog if your HW/ SW/ CW is over 200lbs.

The Low Down

So here’s how my day went.

  • 3 AM. Tummy hurts. Can’t sleep. Up doing work in the middle of the night so I can take vacation next week that isn’t really a vacation but a week long intensive grad school program. Yay me.
  • 6 AM. Still up. But getting Tired.
  • 10 AM must get up if I’m going to make it to Zumba even though Mom and Sis both bailed. Must commit to workouts for myself.
  • 1 PM Shopping, spending money I shouldn’t be spending for my non-vacation vacation. Grabbing Wendy’s b/c Subway has TOO MANY CARBS!!! Should have ate a better meal before hitting the store. 630 calories according to myfitnesspal.com, who isn’t really my pal today.
  • 4PM passed out. Sleep has finally caught up to me. The studying did not get done.
  • 6PM Starving. Mom bailing on dinner.
  • 8 PM still starving. Chipotle strikes back. Chips and guac for everyone.
  • 11 PM Updating Calorie tracker. Holy Mother of God did I really eat that much?
  • 12 AM Another round of Zumba. 700 calories burned in the middle of the night. WTF was I thinking. Bad Chipotle, bad. I may have burned half of what I ate but the guilt is almost gone.
  • 1 AM feeling sweaty, tired and less guilty about food choices though my mind is starting to get  that it is easier to just say no than try and burn off the spontaneous bad choices. Thinking I really want my stupid treadmill.

Overall, I really, really, hate carbs. I’m beginning to believe that I am addicted to them.

Post Workout Breakfast

I had a yummy breakfast this morning post workout, but I don’t have a picture today! Sorry. It was not so pretty but oober delicious. I made scrambled eggs with cheese, chicken sausage and green onion.  I used

  • one serving of egg beaters
  • one Trader Joe’s Smoked Apple Chicken sausage link sliced (though two pieces fell on the floor and became victim to the dog)
  • 1/8 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and
  • chopped green onion

It was so super good and the stats were even better 213 calories, 9 gms fat, 5 gms of carbs, 26 gms protein! If you want to decrease some of the carbs you can ditch the cheese, but why would you want to do that?

If I make it again before I go off to school I will try to do a better job and add pics.  But you could totally eat this any time of the day! Normally I would have added more veggies, green peppers or spinach, but I was out today.
